Uncle Bob has a good camera. Why should I hire a professional photographer?

Professional photographers hear it all the time. "My Uncle Bob has a nice camera that takes amazing pictures!" or "I wish I had a camera like yours, so I can take good pictures too!"
A professional photogrpaher is more than someone with just a good camera. Professional photographers invests a lot of time learning the equipment, rules, lighting, the technical, and various techniques. They can bring an artistic and creative "eye" into the equation. A professional photographer knows how to interact with their subjects to get the most flattering poses, expressions, or emotions.
Before a professional photographer presses the shutter to take a shot, they also think about their perspective, what's in the foreground and backround, the light source (type of light, the quality of it, the direction of it, etc.) the composition, the depth of field, and many other elements that most people may not "see" when creating an image. It is what separates a snapshot from a memorable photograph.
Beware of the "guy with camera" that will fire off a whole bunch of pictures, hope for the best, and give you all of them on a disc. Even worse, post all of them on facebook! Even the unflattering ones! Where is the value in that?
